CVD, HPHT and the 4Cs
The method is context. The stone is the decision.
CVD and HPHT are two accepted growth methods. They describe how the crystal formed, not whether it is a diamond. A grading report identifies laboratory origin and records the characteristics used to compare the finished stone.
Start with cut because it has the strongest effect on visible brilliance. Then balance colour and clarity against the size and design you want. Carat measures weight, not diameter, so two stones of equal carat can face up differently.
Lab grown makes larger or higher-grade diamonds available without paying for a mined-origin narrative. It should still be purchased as jewellery—not presented as an investment or with guaranteed resale claims.

Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. A lab grown diamond is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and optical properties. Its different characteristic is its laboratory origin.
What is the difference between CVD and HPHT diamonds?
CVD grows diamond from carbon-rich gas around a seed, while HPHT recreates high pressure and high temperature. Neither method alone determines beauty or quality; the finished stone's cut, colour, clarity and carat matter more.
What are the 4Cs of a diamond?
Cut measures light performance and proportions, colour records how colourless or intentionally coloured a stone appears, clarity describes internal and surface characteristics, and carat is weight.
Can lab grown diamonds be coloured?
Yes. Lab grown diamonds are available in colourless grades and fancy colours such as yellow, blue and pink. Any post-growth treatment should be disclosed in the documentation.
