Most people are told there are four things that set a diamond price. That is true, and it is also misleading — because they do not carry equal weight.
Carat is weight, not size
A carat is 0.2 grams. Two stones of the same weight can look noticeably different across the table, because weight can hide in the depth where nobody sees it.
What we actually price
- The stone, against its own carat band
- The gold, at the day rate
- The making
- The certificate
Every one of those is on the estimate, separately.
That last line is a test.
