Lab grown diamond prices, from a real price book.

Most price guides quote a range wide enough to mean nothing. These are the rates OUVRA prices from — the same numbers the estimator uses — so you can see exactly how size, shape and clarity move the cost of a stone.

By Jeevan Kumar, founder of OUVRA · Updated 16 October 2026

Why the price per carat rises with size

Diamonds are priced per carat within a size band, and larger bands carry a higher rate. A 2 carat stone therefore costs more than two 1 carat stones of the same grade — bigger rough is rarer, even when it is grown.

The bands start at the size quoted. A 1.20 ct stone is priced at the 1 ct band rate until the next quoted size, which is why the estimator asks for the exact carat rather than a rounded one.

Clarity and colour

OUVRA works in three clarities — VVS1, VVS2 and VS1 — with no inclusions visible to the naked eye at normal viewing distance in a well-cut stone. Moving up a clarity grade adds to the rate; the table shows how much at each size.

Colourless stones are quoted in E and F. Fancy colours — yellow, blue, pink and brown — are priced on their own scale from 1 carat upwards, and their final figure moves a little with the shape.

Shape

Each shape is priced on its own sheet. Round, oval, emerald, pear, cushion, princess, radiant and marquise each have their own rates, and the difference between them changes with size — compare round and oval in the table.

The diamond is only part of the piece

A finished ring adds gold, charged by weight at the day's rate, the making of the piece and an independent certificate. The worked example below is the same ring the OUVRA homepage prices, line by line.

Every figure is indicative. Gold moves daily and the final metal weight is confirmed when you approve the CAD, so the quotation can move a little either way.

Frequently asked

Straight answers.

How much does a 1 carat lab grown diamond cost in India?

At OUVRA a 1 carat round lab grown diamond in E colour costs ₹16,000 to ₹22,000 depending on clarity (VS1 to VVS1), with an E VVS2 at ₹20,000. That is the stone alone, before the gold and setting.

What is the price of a 0.5 carat lab grown diamond?

A half-carat round lab grown diamond in E VS1 is ₹6,750 at OUVRA. Smaller stones carry a lower rate per carat.

How much is a 2 carat lab grown diamond?

A 2 carat round lab grown diamond in E VS1 is ₹38,000. The per-carat rate rises with size, so it costs more than two 1 carat stones.

What does a lab grown diamond ring cost in total?

OUVRA's reference solitaire — a 1.20 ct round E VVS2 diamond in 3.5 g of 18K yellow gold with an IGI certificate — is ₹72,810 indicative, including gold, making and certification.

Why are lab grown diamonds cheaper than mined diamonds?

A lab grown diamond is physically and chemically a diamond, but it is produced to order rather than mined, so the supply is not constrained in the same way. The price reflects the stone, not a scarcity story.

Do lab grown diamond prices change?

Yes. OUVRA's price book is updated as diamond rates move, and gold is charged at the day's rate. The figures on this page are dated so you know which book they come from.
